January 2025 Newsletter:
A Year of Impact
As we look back on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible generosity and support from our community. Thanks to you, we were able to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and families facing food insecurity. Together, we accomplished so much last year, and as we move into 2025, we are excited about the opportunities ahead.

We gave you a preview at the end of last month, but now the official numbers are in.
Highlights from last year include:
- 1,419,321 pounds of food given
- over 35,148 families served with 90,523 people in them
- 7,920 meals shared with our unhoused friends
- 522 weekend backpacks packed for food insecure families in a local elementary school
- 174 meals delivered through our partnership with DoorDash
And, the largest Mobile Food Pantry ever on December 23rd
- 340 families served
- 20,000 pounds
- 2 hours
We served 30% more families in 2024!!
Through the tireless efforts of our volunteers, partnerships with faith communities and schools, and the kindness of donors like you, we were able to meet a growing demand for food assistance in our community. These successes would not have been possible without your support, and for that, we are truly thankful.

As we step into the new year, we are excited to build on the foundation we’ve established. Our focus for 2025 is not only to continue providing essential food assistance, but also to enhance our services to better meet the needs of our community. Some of our key initiatives include:
- Expanding DoorDash Partnership: We currently serve about 30 families every week through DoorDash delivery. This year, we will expand that to at least 50, hopefully more!
- Making Mobile Pantries Mobile: Last year, we held two Mobile Food Pantries at Laurel Ridge Elementary School. To expand to at least one more mobile site, we are pleased to say that on February 1, we will have a mobile food pantry at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church; hopefully, the first of many!
- Building Connections to Government and Businesses: In 2024, we began to reach out to partner with government officials, sharing what we have learned about food insecurity. We have met with the Manager of a local shopping center and discussed how we can partner. This year, we will continue to build these connections to even more government officials and more businesses.

We look forward to working with businesses like Aulick Engineering, pictured here next to our van packed with the 300 bags they filled with hats and gloves, blankets, and hygiene items for our neighbors.
They know that all of those numbers we shared with them represent people who come to THCA and are welcomed, cared for, and fed.
People like
- Felipe, who is trying to support his large family while caring for his wife who is ill
- Raquel, who is a single mom trying to make a better life for her kids while grossly underemployed
- Greg, who works full-time but still cannot afford an apartment, so he sleeps in his car
Your continued support—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word—makes all the difference. Together, we will ensure that no one in our community has to go to bed hungry.
Thank you once again for your generosity in 2024.
We look forward to accomplishing even more in 2025 with your help!
Faithfully,
Rev. Dr. Lisa Heilig
Executive Director
