January 2026 Newsletter:
A Year of Hope
As we close the books on a 2025 that was challenging, and look forward to opportunities in the new year, we do so with gratitude for the hope you shared last year and look forward to what is possible in 2026.
With the official numbers in, here are some highlights from 2025:
- 1,443,492 pounds of food given – which translates to 1,202,910 meals
- 39,422 families served, with at least 92,515 people in them
- 6,746 meals shared with our unhoused friends
- 2,375 boxes of food delivered to seniors, disabled veterans, and others with disabilities through our partnership with DoorDash
- 14 Mobile Food Pantries that served 2,825 families
And, it was a year in which we set records:
- For the largest number of families served in a month
- 3996 in October
- For the largest number of families served in a week
- 929 in the week of November 10th
- The largest number of individual donors in one year = 520
- The largest number of new donors in one year = 285
- The most pounds of food donated by individuals, faith communities, and small businesses in one month = 45,673 in November
You all rallied and showed what it means to be a caring community.
You all embodied the true spirit of Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
THANK YOU to every one of you, each individual, family, school, social group, neighborhood association, faith community, local business. Because of you, we were able to meet the challenges of 2025 head-on.

2025 was also the year we became more involved with hunger advocacy in order to decrease the number of families in need. The Georgia General Assembly was opened session on January 12th and we were there with the Poor People’s Campaign to urge our state legislators to make alleviating hunger a priority by funding our state’s portion of SNAP benefits. As of now, that is in the state budget.
We will keep you all informed about policy issues in 2026 related to hunger and food insecurity and ways you can get involved to help advocate.
In 2025, your audacity to care, to share, and to hope made it possible:
- For a senior couple, one of whom is a disabled veteran experiencing health issues, to have a box of food delivered every week.
- For a retired homeowner who can’t keep up with the taxes on his home to find financial relief because he can save money on food.
- For a woman with cancer who can no longer work to come receive a box of healthy food each week to keep her strength up for the battle.
- For a newly sober young man working a program to start over from rock bottom without worrying about having enough food.
- For a college student on scholarship to come and find support for his educational goals as well as a hot meal and groceries.
These are but a few of the people your support has helped. All of our numbers represent our neighbors. Because you all know that and you care, we shared food – and hope – and made our neighborhood better.
Thank you once again for your generosity in 2025.
We don’t know what 2026 holds, but I know, that with your support, we will continue working together to create a compassionate community.
Knowing we have your support, I am looking forward to 2026.

Team THCA is once again participating in Hunger Walk Run in 2026 – and we need your support!
Please join us in supporting this important mission! You can help us reach our fundraising goal of $30,000 by making a donation on behalf of the team or a specific team member. Or, take the next step against hunger by joining our team.
Or, you and your business, school, faith community, neighborhood can start your own team and designate the funds to THCA. Email lisa@tocohillsalliance.org if you need help in setting up your team to help raise funds.
This event is one of the most important hunger relief efforts of the year. The money we raise will go directly to purchase food from the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
Annual Giving Statements will be prepared by the end of this week.
If we have an email address for you, it will be sent to you via email.
If we only have a mailing address, it will be sent via USPS.
Our system does not usually generate a statement for gifts given through a Donor Advised Fund or through an IRA Rollover. If that is how you gave in 2025 and you would like a statement, please email lisa@tocohillsalliance.org so we can send you one. Also please email if you were expecting a statement but have not received one by February 10th.
Your gifts made such a positive impact in 2025, and we are so grateful!
