ABOUT

AT TOCO HILLS COMMUNITY ALLIANCE YOU ARE WELCOMED AND RESPECTED.

OUR ORGANIZATION

Toco Hills Community Alliance was founded in 1998 by the community of faith as a non-profit organization that provides emergency assistance to our neighbors. The organization became a qualified 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and has expanded its service area in the northeast Atlanta area. We currently serve a 9 ZIP code area providing emergency food supplies.

OUR MISSION

To provide assistance and support for individuals and families living in our service area (DeKalb County for food; 9 zip code area: 30030, 30032, 30033, 30319, 30324, 30329, 30340, 30341, 30345),  including those experiencing homelessness and veterans who  are without sufficient food for themselves or their families.

OUR GOALS

To make available emergency food assistance to individuals and families in need in the northeast communities of Atlanta. To sponsor and promote assistance programs and services that will result in greater economic stability and independence for those individuals and families in need. To provide opportunities for individuals and organizations to be of service to their neighbors by helping individuals and families in need.

WHAT WE DO

We provide non-perishable food, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy items, breads, meat and desserts. We are grateful to our corporate partners and local businesses like Avalon Caterers, Costco, Fresh Market, Kroger, Masada Bread, Publix, Second Helping, St. Pius School, Sprouts, Target, TGM Bread, and Whole Foods who work with us to share fresh, nutritious food with those who often do not have access to quality groceries.

In 2020, due to COVID-19, we served  22,322 households representing 63,068 members, and we distributed 898,637 pounds of fresh food. During the height of COVID-19, the number of families seen each week was double our usual.

In 2021, we served  11,936 families with 32,871 people in them, with almost 50% of those being children. We distributed 688,962 pounds of nutritious food;  on average, each family received over 50 pounds of food each week.

In the summer of 2022, we have experienced a 25% increase in usage of our services, with over 20% of those being new to our services.

We could not do this without the generous support of our member congregations, corporate and community partners!

Toco Hills Community Alliance (THCA) is a group of faith communities and others working together to help our Atlanta area neighbors in need.
